With a purpose to help create vibrant communities by uniting people and investing resources, Coastal Community Foundation (CCF) manages more than $280 million in total assets — among the top 100 community foundations in the nation — and awarded more than $17 million in grants in 2017. Click here for an overview of our purpose, core values, and strategic framework.

We were founded in 1974 with a gift of $9,000 from the Historic Rotary Club of Charleston, and we are deeply rooted in the community. CCF has more than four decades of experience working with people and organizations who want to make a lasting difference through permanent, endowed funds for philanthropic impact. Our proactive approach to donor services, fund flexibility and community engagement, plus our expertise within the nonprofit community, make us the partner of choice for hundreds of donors across coastal South Carolina.

We invest millions of dollars through grantmaking, impact investing, and scholarships, and lead several initiatives in collaboration with the community and other funders such as our Civic Engagement and Place-Based Impact Investing work. We are known for understanding and acting upon the dynamic and changing needs of the communities we serve, with recent examples such as our disaster response efforts during and after major storms such as Hurricane Florence, and the creation of the Lowcountry Unity Fund in the wake of the Mother Emanuel massacre. We proudly embody the core values of stewardship, integrity, inclusion with equity, and courage.

CCF is affiliated with the Southeastern Council of Foundations and serves nine counties across coastal South Carolina: Charleston, Beaufort, Berkeley, Colleton, Dorchester, Georgetown, Hampton, Horry and Jasper. Our offices are in Charleston and Beaufort.
