Coastal Community Foundation Announces New Board Members

CHARLESTON, SC – August 19, 2014 – The Coastal Community Foundation, a grant-making institution dedicated to serving coastal South Carolina, announces the election of eight new board members to their board of directors. Members of the board are elected to serve three-year terms and serve on a variety of committees that include Investment, Community Stewardship, Governance, and Fundraising. This year also marks a change in the Foundation board’s leadership.The Foundation is proud to announce Raymond C. Smith, Jr., CPA, as its newest secretary and treasurer.
Meet the Foundation’s newest Board Members:
Elizabeth Bradham (Charleston County)- Elizabeth Bradham has extensive nonprofit experience primarily focused on early childhood education and animal welfare. She was involved with the founding of two schools for underserved children in New York: The O’Gorman Library and Harlem Academy. She served as the president of the Gibbes Museum for three years and currently serves as the president of the Charleston Animal Society, vice president of the Preservation Society of Charleston and is a board member of Charlestowne Neighborhood Association. She earned a bachelor’s degree cum laude from Princeton University and a master’s degree in business with distinction from Harvard University. Throughout the course of her career in investment banking, she worked at Salomon Brothers and S.G. Warburg and was a partner at Rothschild Inc. She currently serves on the board of Van Wagner Communications in New York.
Steven E. Goldberg (Charleston County)- Steven E. Goldberg has experience with multiple local nonprofit organizations. He has served as president of the East Cooper Jewish Community and as chairman for Operation Home. He is a member of the South Carolina Injured Workers’ Advocates, the American Association for Justice and the South Carolina Bar Association. Goldberg earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida and a law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law. Since 1993, Mr. Goldberg has worked at Steinberg Law Firm, where he represents clients with on-the-job injuries and those involved in motor vehicle accidents. More recently, he has increased his practice to represent families who have lost loved ones due to other peoples’ negligence.
Jim Greenho (Charleston County)-Jim Greenho’s nonprofit experience primarily focuses on youth sports and fitness.  He served on the Dover-Sherborn Youth Soccer Board and is involved in volunteer youth sports, coaching soccer, tennis and volleyball in the Charleston area. He graduated from Bucknell University and began his financial career in the Private Client Group of Merrill Lynch, where he remained for 10 years. Today, Jim is a senior vice president with Morgan Stanley Private Wealth Management and maintains offices in Waltham, and Boston, Masachuesetts. He splits his time between South Carolina and Massachusetts.
Paul “Kip” Hooker, Jr. (Charleston County)- Paul “Kip” Hooker Jr. is actively involved in the accounting community. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the South Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants. He serves on the committees of Trident Technical College, First Baptist Church and also works as a financial consultant to the Friends of the Hunley. He earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Wofford College and later a master’s degree in accounting from the University of Charleston. He is a partner at Dixon Hughes Goodman and manages the firm’s Summerville location. He has extensive experience in the areas of tax services, management, advisory consulting and accounting for individuals and commercial entities.
Bonnie Adams Kapp (Charleston County)- Bonnie Adams Kapp is the executive director at New Morning Foundation and holds a permanent seat on the foundation’s board of directors. In addition to her work at New Morning Foundation, Mrs. Kapp serves as a philanthropic advisor to two charitable funds in the Charleston area. She has 25 years of professional experience in philanthropy, charitable fundraising and nonprofit management. She is a native of Washington, DC, and a graduate of Furman University.
Paul Kohlheim (Charleston County)- Paul Kohlheim currently serves on the board of directors for the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Trident area and serves as the co-lead partner for one of Charleston’s Philanthropic Partnership’s Investees. He has over 24 years of consulting experience, primarily in the health-care industry. Throughout his career, Paul has worked with various academic medical centers, teaching hospitals, large health systems and regional hospitals to substantially improve business performance. During his career, he has served as the president of Stockamp & Associates Inc. and vice president of Huron Consulting Group and was a partner in Accenture’s global Health Services practice.
Linda Plunkett (Charleston County)- Linda Plunkett got involved with the Coastal Community Foundation in 1995 and has since opened five endowment funds and served the organization both as a board member and committee member. She currently serves as the director of the Spauling Paolozzi Foundation, as a member of the advisory council for the Hollings Cancer Center and as a board member for Project Okurase, Inc. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Emory University and went on to earn a master’s in public accounting and her doctorate from Georgia State University. Over the course of her extensive career in education, she has taught at Georgia State University, Oglethorpe University and the College of Charleston.
Libby Steadman (Charleston County)- Libby Steadman has over 35 years of experience in the field of nursing. After earning an associate degree in nursing degree from Clemson University, she went on to receive her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the Medical University of South Carolina, her master’s degree in nursing from the University of Alabama in Birmingham and her master’s degree in strategic studies from US Army War College. In 2002, she was deployed to Afghanistan to serve as the senior army medical department officer to work with the Afghan Ministry of Health, the United Nations and other NGO’s to reestablish the medical infrastructure of the country. Prior and during her time spent overseas, Steadman was appointed as a non-physician in the department of surgery at MUSC. She is currently a member of the Who’s Who in American Nursing and a dedicated volunteer to many Charleston nonprofits.
