Fast Pitch 2017: The Final Showcase

CCF’s partner organization Social Venture Partners (SVP) Charleston, a collaborative network of local philanthropists and social impact advocates, is holding its Fast Pitch 2017 Competition on Wednesday, October 11 at the Woolfe St. Playhouse at 7:00 p.m. This groundbreaking opportunity is designed to speed the non-profit journey from idea to action.

The event will feature live presentations from social impact innovators and will award $25,000 in seed grants, with the four finalists vying for a first place award of at least $20,000 and a second place award of at least $5,000.

This year SVP Charleston is showcasing four area nonprofits: The Bee Cause, Lowcountry Autism Foundation, StepUp Network, and Turning Leaf Project. The organizations are engaged with SVP mentors to strengthen their business models and chart mid-term strategy. Tickets are $35 and can be purchased by clicking here.

“We’re excited about Fast Pitch because of the value it brings in mentorship, community exposure and funding,” said Joe DeGroff, Chairman of SVP Charleston. “Every participant will see real value – regardless of the outcome – and we’re hopeful that several great ideas will be advanced through involvement with the program.”

Established in 2009 with support from Coastal Community Foundation, SVP’s membership has increased from seven to 35 members. The partnership invests in organizations, providing dollars as well as expertise and time.

Designed to spur the growth or launch of innovative non-profit efforts, the competition is open to start-ups and established organizations alike. In order to participate, the organization must hold a valid 501(c)(3) public charity designation, operate in the tri-county area, offer a unique value proposition that is clearly distinct from existing area organizations or services and be dedicated to lasting, sustainable change. SVP Charleston began offering the Fast Pitch Program in 2014 and past winners include the Center for Heir’s Property Preservation and Chucktown Squash Scholars.
