College Readiness Program Expands, Scholarship and Student Success Manager

Coastal Community Foundation extends a warm welcome to our new staff member, Zahra Gauthier, whom shares our passion for community, scholarship, and service to others. With an exemplary background and a zest to encourage youth academic excellence, CCF gets great pleasure in knowing that the next generation will be prepared to act on tomorrow’s challenges and be agents of philanthropic service.

Gauthier leads the Revered Pinckney College Readiness Program. This program serves high school juniors and seniors in Charleston, Beaufort, and Jasper counties by providing them with high-quality college counseling and preparing them to succeed in their academics after high school graduation. Gauthier also helps to manage the Foundation’s scholarships, which awarded $521,000 last year.

Gauthier has a B.A in Political Science from Florida International University and a M.Ed. in Social Studies Education from the University of Florida. She’s taught Social Studies to middle and high schoolers in four states before moving to Maryland and working at a nonprofit college access program. She is a first-gen student and as a child with immigrant parents, she adamant in ensuring college readiness and academic success for minority and first-gen students. She resides in Charleston, SC with her husband Chris, daughter Margot, dog, Madeline, and cat Milton. She enjoys playing trivia, reading, cooking, and traveling.  Gauthier is a native from Miami, Florida.
