Coastal Community Foundation Calls for Applications for Griffith/Reyburn Lowcountry Artist of the Year Award

Charleston County: February 4, 2015 – Coastal Community Foundation is now accepting applications for its Griffith/Reyburn Lowcountry Artist of the Year Award. 2015 marks the 12^th anniversary of the award.
Created and funded by Mike Griffith and Donna Reyburn, the grant is annually awarded to support the creation of a work of visual art that represents the Lowcountry’s unique life, culture or environment. This competitive grant opportunity of $5,000 is intended to support a visual artist during the creation of a work of art which will then be the personal property of the artist to keep, show or sell at his or her own discretion.  The selected artist’s new work will also be featured at an opening show and reception in the fall of 2015.
Applicants must be citizens or residents of Charleston County and at least fifteen years of age.  The proposed work of art can use any form or combination of media, including fine art sculpture. Winning proposals will suggest an innovative subject, style or approach unavailable in galleries and studios today. New and under-recognized artists are encouraged to apply.
