February 13, 2015 by CCF

Grants up to $3,000 available for community improvement projects in low to moderate income neighborhoods

Charleston, SC: February 13, 2015 – Coastal Community Foundation, a grantmaking institution dedicated to serving coastal South Carolina, today announced it is accepting applications for the N.E.W. Fund’s 2015 grant cycle. The N.E.W., or Neighborhoods Energized to Win!, Fund is a competitive program providing grants, leadership development and technical assistance to low and moderate-income neighborhoods in Charleston and Colleton Counties. Grants ranging from $500-$3,000 are available for neighborhood  improvement projects.

Coastal Community Foundation encourages applications from both grassroots and 501 (c)(3) non-profit neighborhood organizations. Priority will be given to organizations focused on the Fund’s desired outcomes of strong and healthy families, safe and supportive neighborhoods, residential pride, active community participation and a belief in residents’ power to shape their communities. Past projects include after-school programs, neighborhood beautification initiatives and various community center plans.

A mandatory pre-application session will be held on February 28th at 10:00 a.m. at Coastal Community Foundation’s office for all applicants to the N.E.W. Fund, except for those who received a N.E.W. Fund grant in 2013 or 2014.  At this session, CCF staff will review the application process and give advice to applicants. Attendance is open to anyone, but reservations are required by 12:00 p.m. on February 26th so that staff will know how many to expect.

Created in 1991, the N.E.W. Fund is designed to support self-sustaining community development, leadership, and pride within neighborhoods. Applications are due Thursday, April 2 at 5:00 p.m. Further information about the N.E.W. Fund is available at https://coastalcommunityfoundation.org/grants/list-of-grants/. For more information about the N.E.W. Fund or to reserve seats for the informational meeting, please contact Sydney Fowler at (843) 723-3635 or Sydney@coastalcommunityfoundation.org.
