CHARLESTON, S.C. – Applications are now open for faith-based organizations to receive grants from a new fund at Coastal Community Foundation, thanks to a $500,000 investment from Boeing.

The Boeing Interfaith Fund supports faith-based outreach ministries in Charleston, Berkeley, and Dorchester counties that provide vital community services like afterschool education, financial literacy, healthcare access, grocery support, and more. Unlike most other funds at Coastal Community Foundation, the faith-based organizations do not need a 501(c)(3) nonprofit status to apply, but must be registered as a charity with the state of South Carolina.

“We are proud to continue our partnership with Boeing, furthering their commitment to enhance the well-being of the local community,” said Darrin Goss, Sr., President and CEO of Coastal Community Foundation. “Houses of worship build trust and connect with people directly in their neighborhoods who may not be receiving support from other regional nonprofits. We hope this fund will help to close a gap in financial support so that we can ensure everyone in our region has the resources they need to thrive.”

The grants will average $5,000 each and applications are open now through June 1. Grant requests will be reviewed by an advisory committee of volunteers, members of the interfaith community, and Boeing team members. The final grant decisions will be announced in December.

Coastal Community Foundation of South Carolina is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that works to create communities rich in equity, opportunity and well-being by uniting people and investing resources so that all community members have a pathway to achieve their goals. The largest community foundation in South Carolina, Coastal Community Foundation’s service area includes Beaufort, Berkeley, Charleston, Colleton, Dorchester, Georgetown, Hampton, Horry and Jasper counties. Through our tools for long-term charitable giving, we help individuals, families, businesses and organizations be the reason why communities thrive in the nine counties we serve along South Carolina’s coast.
