Coastal Community Foundation Opens Disaster Relief Grant Applications for Colleton County

Coastal Community Foundation is now accepting grant applications for nonprofits providing disaster relief and recovery in Colleton County.

To apply organizations must be a registered 501(c)3 serving Colleton County. The grants, up to $5,000, will focus on organizations providing emergency aid such as supplying food, water, shelter, and medical supplies, and those supporting recovery efforts such as rebuilding homes, infrastructure and community services to restore normalcy.

“After speaking with our community partners in Colleton County, we determined the storm’s impact was significant enough to activate our disaster response grantmaking,” said Kerri Forrest, Vice President of Grantmaking and Community Leadership. “Parts of the county saw substantial flooding and hundreds of homes were inaccessible for days. Even as the floodwaters recede, there will be extensive work to be done to repair homes, businesses, and infrastructure.”

Grants will be reviewed on a rolling basis by a volunteer committee of community members. Nonprofits can submit applications here.

“Coastal Community Foundation stands ready to step in when disaster strikes in any part of our nine-county coastal service area,” said President and CEO Darrin Goss Sr. “We work closely with community leaders across the region to ensure nonprofits serving areas with the greatest need get support quickly. We appreciate our network of donors who contribute to build up these funds that we can deploy when necessary. We are still in the early stages of hurricane season and will be prepared if future disaster relief and recovery is needed.”

The funding for these grants comes from CCF’s Disaster Response Fund, Colleton County Fund, and Beaufort Fund. Those who wish to support disaster relief and recovery efforts for this storm and future needs throughout CCF’s nine county footprint can donate here. 100% of contributions go to disaster relief and recovery grants, with no administrative fees collected by CCF.
