Coastal Community Foundation Promotes Melissa Levesque to Vice President of Development & Stewardship

CHARLESTON, SCTuesday, February 13, 2018 – Coastal Community Foundation (CCF) is pleased to announce the promotion of Melissa Levesque to Vice President of Development & Stewardship. Levesque came to the Foundation this past fall from Cornerstone Philanthropic Advisors, LLC.
Levesque founded the company in 2009 and served as the group’s President for the past eight years, consulting for a portfolio of clients spanning an array of fields and sizes, from local education (Bethesda Academy) to international environmental concerns (Ocean Exchange). Her strategic planning and development consulting work led to the creation of an international entrepreneurship competition at Ocean Exchange, whose funders include Gulfstream Aerospace and Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics.
“Melissa’s expertise in comprehensive philanthropic advising and strategic planning, and her experience from past leadership roles with Cornerstone Philanthropic Advisors and the Council on Foundations, make her an excellent choice to step into this role,” said President and CEO, Darrin Goss, Sr. “We have had a seamless transition and Melissa is already working to advance the best-in-class donor services we provide at the Foundation. She is intently focused on serving our donors and connecting them to meaningful giving opportunities and resources.”
“I’m committed to donor-centric stewardship and gift planning and am so happy to continue that work at Coastal Community Foundation—it is an honor and privilege,” said Levesque.
Beyond her role as President of Cornerstone Philanthropic Advisors and Director of Philanthropic Advisors at the Council on Foundations, Levesque served as the VP of Endowment and Foundation Services for SunTrust Banks in Atlanta from 2003-2005; the Director of Suddes Partners, a national Fundraising Consultant Firm in Atlanta from 2005-2008; and the Chief Operating Officer of DonorsTrust, a multi-million-dollar grantmaking public charity based out of Alexandria, Virginia from 2008-2009. She holds a Masters in Historic Preservation from University of Georgia and a J.D. from University of Georgia School of Law.
As Vice President of Development & Stewardship, Levesque will lead the Foundation’s efforts to help individuals, corporations and nonprofit organizations reach their philanthropic goals by engaging them with the Foundation and the greater community. She was promoted to the role after Betsy Kinsley accepted a position to become CEO of the Downtown San Diego Partnership in San Diego, CA.
