Lowcountry Giving Day 2015 Events

With May 5th drawing near, it’s time to think about how you can be involved in Lowcountry Giving Day 2015. You can make a gift on May 5th, spread the word on social media or even attend an event.

Coastal Community Foundation is partnering with Palmetto Brewery to host a May 5th headquarters at Palmetto Brewery from 12 – 7 p.m. You can check out Facebook for more details about local bands, food trucks and other plans for the day!

However, there are many other events being hosted by participating nonprofits during the lead up to May 5th as well.  We’ll updating this list with more events as we get closer to Lowcountry Giving Day, so set your calendar today and help us #LiftTheLowcountry!

 


 

 

May 5th

 

North Charleston Giving Day Celebration (Multiple organizations)

6 a.m. – 6 p.m., North Charleston City Hall, 2500 City Hall Lane

Drop in to make your gift to local North Charleston nonprofits and join in on the fun! There will be a ‘donation station’ for guests to make a gift to the organization of their choice, a representatives from local participating nonprofits will be on hand for more information. Food trucks and music will be available all day! Updates will be posted to the Facebook event.

Lowcountry Giving Day Celebration (Kiawah Conservancy)

8:30am – 4:30pm

The Sandcastle, 1 Shipwatch Road, Kiawah Island

Drop in to make your gift to the Kiawah Conservancy and join in on the fun! There will be a ‘donation station’ for guests to make a gift, and Conservancy staff and volunteers will be on hand to offer assistance and answer any questions you may have about Lowcountry Giving Day or the Kiawah Conservancy. Guests will enjoy light refreshments and fun activities throughout the day.  See Facebook for more details.

Lowcountry Giving Day Theatre-A-Thon! (Flowertown Players)

8:30 a.m. – 11:30 p.m., 133 South Main Street, Summerville

This is a day full of FREE theater events. Everyone is invited to drop by to enjoy a variety of entertainment, classes, movies and more. We will have a donation station open for guests to make donations and share the event on social media. All Lowcountry Giving Day Participants to stop in, present information and be a part of the day!

Lift the Lowcountry at the J.B. Beck Center (Miss Ruby’s Kids)

9 to 11 a.m, 2018 Church St, Georgetown

Come join Miss Ruby’s Kids on Cinco de Mayo to make a gift for Lowcountry Giving Day! Food and beverages will be provided and we will accept online donations via credit card. Help us raise money so we can continue supporting children in Georgetown County! For more information, call Traci Butler at 843-436-7197

Giving in the Garden (Historic Beaufort Foundation)

9 a.m. – 6 p.m., 208 Scott Street, Beaufort

Join us for a glass of iced tea and refreshments at our office on May 5th! Staff will be on hand to assist with online donations via credit card.

Cinco de Mayo at Bluffton Self Help (Bluffton Self HELP)

10 a.m. – 4 p.m., Unit 9, 39 Sheridan Park Circle, Bluffton

Stop by Bluffton Self Help to make your donation for Lowcountry Giving Day. There will be staff and volunteers on hand to help you make your online donation, and there will be salsa, dip and punch to celebrate Cinco de Mayo too!

Day of Giving Party at The Alley (Multiple organizations)

11 a.m. – 9 p amoxicillin australia.m., 131 Columbus Street, Charleston

Join us for a fun Cinco de Mayo event! The Alley will provide food and drink specials all day, and 10% of all sales from the event will benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities of Charleston, Carolina Youth Development Center, Florence Crittenton, Carolina Studios & First Tee of Greater Charleston.

Light Up Footlight! (Footlight Players)

11:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., 20 Queen St, Charleston

Join Footlight Players at this open house to learn more about upcoming additions to the Footlight Players Theatre! From 3:30 – 4:30 p.m., a national touring sister act will perform a special act created just for this event. Let’s “Light Up Footlight” on May 5th! Palmetto Brewery Headquarters (Coastal Community Foundation)

12 – 7 p.m., 289 Huger Street, Charleston

Join Coastal Community Foundation at Palmetto Brewery to celebrate another round of community giving! All day there will be food and beverage available for purchase. Lowcountry Giving Day staff and volunteers will also be on hand to help you support the causes you care about with a simple online gift. During Happy Hour from 5 – 7 p.m., there will be live music and an announcement of nonprofit prize winners. Check out Facebook for more details about bands and food!

Giving Day Station at the Frances P. Bunnelle Foundation (Multiple organizations)

1 – 5 p.m., 8263 Ocean Highway, Pawleys Island

Join the fun at Bunnelle’s office in Pawleys Island! Past grantees of the Bunnelle Foundation who are participating in Lowcountry Giving Day will be onsite with laptops and tablets to help you make your online gift. Refreshments from Habaneros will also be provided.

Mount Pleasant Farmers Market (Friends of Coastal South Carolina)

3:30 – 7 p.m., 645 Coleman Blvd, Mount Pleasant

Stop by the market to get some produce, make a gift and see what kids activities we have in store!

Voices For Veterans Kick Off at Bay Street Biergarten (Family Services, Inc.)

4 – 7 p.m., 549 East Bay, Charleston

All happy hour signature drink profits will go to Family Services, Inc’s One Less Homeless Vet program. Help them reach their Lowcountry Giving Day goal of $10,000! Go to www.fsisc.org/lowcountrygivingday for more info!

Cinco de Mayo Giving Day Splash at Coastal Expeditions (Friends of Coastal South Carolina)

4:30 – 7:30 p.m., 514 Mill Street, Mount Pleasant

Bike Month + Lowcountry Giving Day = Revelry (Charleston Moves)

5 – 7 p.m., 10 Conroy Street, Charleston

Center for Women May 5th After Party (Center for Women)

5 – 7 p.m., Republic Bar and Lounge, 463 King Street, Charleston

There will be free food and drink and live music for Center for Women #LiftTheLowcountry supporters, as well as the ability to make your online donation at the event. See Facebook for more details.

Giving Day Celebration (Multiple Organizations)

5 – 7 p.m., 970 Morrison Drive, Charleston

Join Coastal Conservation League, GrowFood Carolina and The Nature Conservancy for happy hour at The Royal American to celebrate Lowcountry Giving Day! Any participating nonprofit is welcome to join in on this event. Contact Bea Girndt at beag@scccl.org for more information.

5:30 – 8 p.m., Charleston Sports Pub, 1124 Sam Rittenberg Boulevard

Celebrate Lowcountry Giving Day, enjoy food and drink specials, and get a glimpse of the future of the College! Visit our Facebook event to share this with your friends and to let us know if you can join us.

#CHSJAZZ Lowcountry Giving Day Benefit Concert (Jazz Artists of Charleston)

5:30 – 9 p.m., Charleston Jazz House, 93 Spring Street, Charleston

Swing over to the Charleston Jazz House starting at 10 a.m. to make your contribution at a giving station. Get jazzy with us at our happy hour reception featuring live jazz, food and libations, followed by the #CHSJAZZ Lowcountry Giving Day Benefit Concert featuring an energetic zydeco and funk-inspired performance by Cameron & The Funk Dumplins. Free admission, with contributions encouraged at the event.

The Green Brick Gala (The Sustainability Institute)

6 – 10 p.m., 103 Spring Street, Charleston

The Sustainability Institute is hosting “The Green Brick Gala: A Green Tie Affair and Watch Party” at the brand new Cannon Green, ‘A Gathering Common’. The gala will showcase the Cannon Green story as well as the work being done by the Institute and other innovative companies to reduce Charleston’s environmental footprint and to re-shape our communities with high-performing buildings and sustainability strategies.  More information on the event and how to RSVP can be found on our website or our Facebook Event Page.

Free Concert With the Charleston Academy of Music String Ensemble (Charleston Academy of Music)

6:30 p.m., 189 Rutledge Avenue, Charleston

Come and find out more about Charleston Academy of Music and our students! This concert is open to the general public, and staff members will be on hand to accept online donations towards Lowcountry Giving Day.

HAPPYFOODS 365 Cookbook Launch and Lowcountry Giving Day Party! (Charleston Jewish Bookfest)

7 p.m., 1645 Raoul Wallenberg Boulevard, Charleston

We join Susan Weintrob and Lisa Rovick for a cooking demo, give aways and lots of yummy tastings as we learn about the concept behind the cookbook.
