Lowcountry Unity Fund of Coastal Community Foundation Accepting Mini Grant Applications

Initial funding round to support collaborative efforts between nonprofits and other organizations in Charleston County

CHARLESTON, S.C. October 13, 2015 – The Lowcountry Unity Fund of Coastal Community Foundation is now accepting mini-grant applications for funding between $500-2,000 to support programs targeting racial equity in Charleston County. Eligible projects will demonstrate how partnerships are being developed or strengthened to address structural racism and economic inequality affecting African American communities.
Mini-grants are intended to support new or existing projects that utilize collaboration and partnership as a means toward achieving racial equity. Eligible projects must include at least one 501(c)3 nonprofit organization (Lead Applicant) who will make an application on behalf of the collaborative. Examples of non-501(c)3 partners could include businesses, government agencies, neighborhood associations or other community groups.
The purpose of the Lowcountry Unity Fund is to promote long-term solutions to systemic issues contributing to racism and to economic inequality in African-American communities. Applications will be evaluated by a committee of community members with ties to the local African-American community.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, with an estimated turnaround for funding decisions of six weeks. CCF aims to support and learn about local initiatives as they develop through this rolling funding process. Please visit https://coastalcommunityfoundation.org/grants/ and scroll down to “Community Initiatives” to access the mini-grant application.
Electronic submissions should be e-mailed to Grants@coastalcommunityfoundation.org. Hand or postal delivery should go to 635 Rutledge Avenue, Suite 201, Charleston, SC 29403. Please direct any questions about Lowcountry Unity Fund Mini Grants to Ali Titus at Ali@coastalcommunityfoundation.org.
