Coastal Community Foundation Calls for Applications to the N.E.W. Fund

Grants up to $3,000 available for community improvement projects in low to moderate income neighborhoods

CHARLESTON, S.C.: October 26, 2015 – Coastal Community Foundation, a grantmaking institution dedicated to serving coastal South Carolina, today announced the N.E.W. Fund (Neighborhoods Energized to Win!) is accepting funding requests of $500-$3,000 for its 2015-2016 grant cycle. Applications are available at and are due by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 27th, 2016.
The N.E.W. Fund is a competitive program providing grants, leadership development and technical assistance to low and moderate-income neighborhoods in Charleston and Colleton Counties. Coastal Community Foundation encourages applications from both grassroots and 501(c)3 nonprofit neighborhood organizations. Priority will be given to organizations focused on the Fund’s desired outcomes of strong and healthy families, safe and supportive neighborhoods, residential pride, active community participation and a belief in residents’ power to shape their communities.
A mandatory pre-application session will be held on January 9th at 10:00 a.m. at Coastal Community Foundation’s office for all new applicants and prior grantees who haven’t received funding since the 2013-2014 cycle. Attendance is not mandatory for organizations who have N.E.W. Fund grants in the past two years, but individuals from those groups are still welcome to attend. At this session, CCF staff will review the application process and give advice to applicants. Attendance is open to anyone, but reservations are required by 12:00 p.m. on January 6th so that staff will know how many to expect.
Created in 1991, the N.E.W. Fund is designed to support self-sustaining community development, leadership, and pride within neighborhoods. For more information about the N.E.W. Fund or to reserve seats for the January 9th session, please contact Danica Whitney at (843) 723-3635 or
