Volvo Car USA Operations Grants Fund

Prior to opening its first U.S. manufacturing plant in Berkeley County in 2017, Volvo established the Volvo Car U.S. Operations Grants Fund at Coastal Community Foundation to support local organizations in four program areas: 

  • Education, with a specific focus on workforce development
  • Environment & Sustainability, to preserve the planet for the next generation
  • Inclusion, Equity & Belonging, to create safe spaces where all community members are valued
  • Innovative Solutions, to foster creative ideas for today’s problems

Average award: grants generally range from $1,000 to $25,000

Criteria for eligibility

  • Nonprofits working within 40 miles of Volvo’s Ridgeville plant are eligible to apply.

Application process and schedule

  • Volvo will accept applications one time in 2024. A committee comprised of community members will consider applications, with final decisions typically announced within three months of each deadline.
