An annual, renewable award of $5,000 is made each year to a student from Berkeley, Charleston, or Dorchester counties.

Below are details about each scholarship program available to high school seniors at Coastal Community Foundation.

Gamma Lambda Boule Scholarship

This scholarship provides an annual award to an African-American student in the Boule membership area (includes coastal S.C. to Wilmington, N.C.). Applicants must have a minimum 2.5 GPA as well as demonstrated leadership qualities, financial need, and evidence of positive character traits.


Agustus J. and Lawrence A. Holt Scholarship Fund

This award is an annual scholarship for an African-American senior at Garrett Academy of Technology.


Mother Emanuel A.M.E. Scholarship Endowment

This fund awards a renewable scholarship to an African-American students from Berkeley, Charleston, or Dorchester counties who will be attending college in South Carolina.


Porgy & Bess Music Scholarship

The Porgy & Bess Music Scholarship is for African-American students who have lived in Berkeley, Charleston and/or Dorchester counties for five or more years and who will be majoring in music or music education. Students bound for or in college may apply from year to year.


Tonisha Bell Alston and Thaddeus J. Bell, II Memorial Scholarship

This fund supports Charleston County students who intend to pursue a Bachelor’s degree at Morehouse College in Atlanta or at Howard University in Washington, DC.


William Melvin & Juanita W. Brown Scholarship

This funds awards a renewable scholarship to an African-American student who lives in Charleston County, who is a member of the Roman Catholic Church, and who is about to begin studies at a four-year
college.

Allendale College Readiness Program

The College Readiness Program offers high school students in Allendale county tailored support and resources throughout the college application process to help them prepare for, research, evaluate and ultimately select which college is right for them.

Jasiri L.K. Whipper Scholarship Endowment

This renewable scholarship is awarded to a student who will attend a historically black college or university or a South Carolina state-supported college.


Leah Read and Seymour I.Barkowitz Scholarship Fund

This fund awards scholarships to students in Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester counties who intend to pursue a 4-year degree at College of Charleston.


Tonisha Bell Alston and Thaddeus J. Bell, II Memorial Scholarship

This fund supports Charleston County students who intend to pursue a Bachelor’s degree at Morehouse College in Atlanta or at Howard University in Washington, DC.


Wofford College Fund

This fund supports students from Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester counties intending to pursue a 4-year degree at Wofford College.

CRAN Charleston Scholarship Endowment

This fund awards scholarships to a college-bound high school senior pursuing an undergraduate degree in architecture.


DeCosta/Pinckney Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to a student with plans to pursue a career as a craftsman with a focus on the building trades critical to historic architectural restoration and preservation. Preference is for, but not restricted to, African-Americans.


Don Rossi Scholarship

This scholarship is for college juniors and seniors who are majoring in Sports Administration, Golf Enterprise Management or Sports Management, and who intend to pursue a career in a golf-related field. Applications are accepted from students attending colleges and universities nationwide.

This fund provides scholarships for students from Berkeley, Charleston or Dorchester counties working toward a baccalaureate or higher degree in nursing at any college or university.


Porgy & Bess Music Scholarship

The Porgy & Bess Music Scholarship is for African-American students who have lived in Berkeley, Charleston and/or Dorchester counties for five or more years and who will be majoring in music or music education. Students bound for or in college may apply from year to year.

Morris D. Finkelstein Scholarship

This fund provides a renewable scholarship for up to four years to help a deserving student-athlete from Berkeley, Charleston or Dorchester Counties to receive a degree from any college in the state of South Carolina.


Thomas E. Thornhill-Kiwanis Scholarship Endowment

This fund awards a scholarship to a local high school senior who is a member of his or her school Key Club (or whose parent or guardian is an active member of a local Kiwanis Club) and shows strong potential to succeed in a South Carolina college.

Future Military Officer’s Scholarship Fund

This scholarship provides a one-time scholarship to a junior or senior in the upcoming fall semester at The Citadel or Charleston Southern University who is from a “294_ _” zip code and is enrolled in an ROTC Program and has a signed contract to enter military service after college.


Hill-Weatherford Post of the American Legion Scholarship

This scholarship is for students who are veterans or direct descendants of veterans residing in the South Carolina region served by the Hill-Weatherford Memorial Post #157, which includes: Lebanon, Cross, Sandridge and Eadytown.

Charleston County School District Scholarship

This fund awards scholarships to Charleston County students who have one or more parents employed by Charleston County School District.


Charleston First Responders Scholarship

This scholarship is for first responders, their children or their spouses. Available to college-bound or in-college students.


William and Prudence Finn & Harold Newlin Hill Scholarships

The William and Prudence Finn Scholarship Endowment and The Harold Newlin Hill Scholarship provide scholarship support for graduating high school seniors who are children or step-children of AstenJohnson employees.


Palmetto Goodwill Scholarship

This fund awards renewable scholarships to current Palmetto Goodwill, Palmetto Goodwill Services, and Palmetto Excel employees and their children and grandchildren for both technical college and four-year colleges and universities.

Amanda’s Scholarship Fund

An annual, renewable award of $5,000 is made each year to a student from Berkeley, Charleston, or Dorchester counties.


Anne Byrd Scholarship Fund

This fund awards scholarships to students who attend a James Island Constituent District High School.


Banks-Williams-Banks Fund

This scholarship is aimed at high school seniors at Summerville High School.


Burke Promise Fund

This scholarship supports a graduating senior from Burke High School.


Decker Scholarship

This fund is focused on higher education scholarships for students residing in Berkeley, Charleston or Dorchester counties.


Donna Reyburn and Michael Griffith Fund

Renewable scholarships are awarded to seniors at St. John’s High School on Johns Island who demonstrate the potential to succeed in college, high academic motivation, and the initiative and drive to help finance his or her college education by having worked and by having applied for other loans and scholarships.


Eve K. Evans Scholarship

This scholarship provides awards to Charleston minority boys who are pursuing a college education at a private institution.


Gadsden Family Fund

This fund provides scholarships to residents of Berkeley or Dorchester Counties, with a strong preference for those going to either Winthrop or Clemson Universities.


Hebrew Orphan Society N. Edgar Miles, M.D. Scholarship

This fund awards scholarships to graduating high school seniors in Berkeley, Charleston, or Dorchester counties with a demonstrated financial need, who are in the top 25% of their graduating class, and have earned a 3.0 GPA or higher on a 4.0 scale.


Isaiah Bennett Memorial Scholarship

This fund provides scholarship support to an African-American student with financial need who lives in the Awendaw-McClellanville area and is graduating from a public high school to attend a four-year college.


J. C. and Alberta Long Fund

This fund accepts applications from any high school senior who has lived in Berkeley, Charleston and/or Dorchester counties for at least the past four years.


Kylie Erin Gillette Scholarship Fund

Annual scholarships are awarded to students from Berkeley, Charleston or Dorchester counties.


LAMC Community Mitigation Scholarship Endowment

This fund will award scholarships to students in the Accabee, Chicora Cherokee, Union Heights, Howard Heights, Windsor Place, Five Mile and Liberty Hill neighborhoods in North Charleston, S.C.


Linda Oshinsky Memorial Scholarship Endowment

This fund provides an award to a graduating senior from Stratford High School who plans to major in English or Education in college.


Phillip O’Neill Hanvey Memorial Scholarship Fund

This scholarship is for students from Charleston County.


Rachel Amey Scholarship Endowment Fund

One award is given annually to recognize a student graduating from a school in the Charleston County School District with plans to attend a college. Strong preference of given to applicants who have learned English as a second language.

An annual, renewable award of $10,000 is made each year to a student based on academic merit and character.


T. C. Drayton Scholarship Fund

This fund supports residents who live on the East Side community in the city of Charleston who are seniors in high school, about to begin studies at a two- or four-year college, with preference for students who rank in the top 50% of their class.


Warren O. Pinckney Scholarship Fund

This scholarship is aimed at helping students with financial need from Berkeley, Charleston or Dorchester counties pursue a college degree.


UPLIFT Scholarship sponsored by the Medical Staff at ECMC and East Cooper Medical Center

This scholarship is awarded to a student from Berkeley, Charleston, or Dorchester counties who maintains a 2.5 GPA or greater.


Bernice and Samuel Judge Scholarship Endowment

This scholarship is awarded to students graduating from Burke High School who wish to attend a 4-year college or trade school.


Donald C. and Johanna Miller Scholarship Endowment

This scholarship is awarded to students in Berkeley, Charleston, and Dorchester Counties.


Howard W. Krauss, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Endowment

This scholarship is awarded to students graduating from St. Johns High School


Clay & Nicole Middleton Family Scholarship

This Fund will award scholarships to students from Burke High School with a GPA between 2.0 and 2.9.


Shannon Sudderth Scholarship Endowment

Established in 2020, this fund will award two renewable scholarships to students who reside in Charleston County.

Davis Family Scholarship Endowment for Christian Students

This scholarship is for Lowcountry students active in Christian churches.


D. Ward and Gladys S. Wilson Scholarship Endowment

This fund awards an annual scholarship to a high school senior who attends an A.M.E. Church and intends to pursue a college education. Preference is for students who attend Ebenezer A.M.E. Church in Charleston.


Esther Lorine Bailey Rivers Scholarship Fund

This fund awards an annual scholarship to a high school senior who intends to pursue a college education, whose primary residence is in Berkeley County, and who is a member of an A.M.E. Church.


William Ferguson Seabrook Scholarship Endowment for Morris Brown AME Youth

This scholarship is for high school seniors who are members of Morris Brown A.M.E. Church, attended Title I schools throughout K-12, and plan to enroll as a full-time college student for the fall semester.
