Grant Applications Now Available for The Beaufort Fund of Coastal Community Foundation

Funding of up to $15,000 available for nonprofits serving Beaufort, Colleton, Hampton or Jasper Counties

BEAUFORT, SC: June 15, 2015 – Coastal Community Foundation, a grantmaking institution dedicated to serving the coastal counties of South Carolina, today announced that grant applications are available for The Beaufort Fund. Funding is available for charitable programs throughout the Southern Lowcountry region of Beaufort, Colleton, Hampton and Jasper Counties, with the ultimate goal to improve the quality of life in these communities by supporting the network of nonprofits across the region.
Started in 1998 by a multi-million dollar gift from an anonymous Beaufort family, The Beaufort Fund has since awarded nearly $7 million in grants to nonprofits across the Southern Lowcountry. Grants are generally directed to provide support in six program areas: Arts, Education, Environment, Health, Human Needs and Neighborhood/Community Development. Grant requests of up to $15,000 will be accepted from any 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, as long as its work benefits citizens in the Southern Lowcountry. Organizations may only submit one request per grant cycle.
Decisions about grants from The Beaufort Fund are made by Coastal Community Foundation per recommendations from an Advisory Committee made up of Southern Lowcountry residents. The deadline to submit a first-round grant application is Friday, August 14th; all materials may be emailed or hand-delivered by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, August 14th or if sent by U.S. mail, must be postmarked on or before Thursday, August 13th.
