Donations up 31 percent with nearly $4.2 million pledged

CHARLESTON, SCMay 5, 2016 – The numbers are in, and more donors than ever showed up to give on Lowcountry Giving Day 2016!  Nearly 20,000 donations were made, up 31% from last year for a total of $4,197,950. The goal of Lowcountry Giving Day is to encourage the use of online technology for nonprofits to stimulate donor engagement and increase donor reach.

Coastal Community Foundation started Lowcountry Giving Day in 2014.  This year it was sponsored by CCF with training support provided by SCANPOBidr designed the website and managed the campaign. For the first time ever there were no fees charged for offline donations. Bidr waived these fees in the spirit of uniting the Lowcountry in support of our vital nonprofit community.

Top three nonprofits for Donation Totals:

-Talent Initiative (Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce#talent  $270,200

Donors had many more ways to give this year than ever before.  They could browse www.lowcountrygivingday.org to make multiple donations at once.  They could go to each of the nearly 400 nonprofits’ text.gives page (i.e.: https:text.gives/talent) or they could text in their donation using the organizations keyword (i.e. asset) to 33923 or 843-606-5995.

Though Lowcountry Giving Day is over, our local nonprofits can continue to solicit donations year round using their https://text.gives pages, which allow donors to give online and via text-to-donate.
