Coastal Community Foundation Opens Disaster Relief Fund to Support S.C. Flood Relief

Donations accepted to support relief efforts in Berkeley, Charleston, Dorchester, Georgetown and Horry Counties

CHARLESTON, S.C. – October 7, 2015 – To support flood relief efforts in its service area, Coastal Community Foundation is accepting donations to its Disaster Relief Fund to help organizations serving those hardest hit by recent storms and severe flooding. 100% of donated funds will support organizations working in the following counties of CCF’s service area which belong to the federally-declared disaster zone: Berkeley, Charleston, Dorchester, Georgetown and Horry.
To donate, please visit coastalcommunityfoundation.org/donate-today/ and designate your gift to “SC Flood”. Donors may also send checks with “SC Flood” written in the memo line or make contributions from their donor-advised funds to the Disaster Relief Fund. Additional counties may be added to those eligible for funding as the situation develops.
“CCF’s Disaster Relief Fund was created by our Board nearly ten years ago,” said Richard Hendry, Interim CEO. “Having it in place enables us to respond quickly by accepting contributions from donors who appreciate CCF’s role as a judicious funder. We hope that the Fund’s grants will be helpful both to organizations that are providing immediate relief, as well as to those addressing more long-term effects of the storm.”
Nonprofits interested in applying for funding from the Disaster Relief Fund are advised to contact Edie Blakeslee, Regional Vice-President, at edie@coastalcommunityfoundation.org for further information after October 20th when grant guidelines will be made available.
Individuals interested in supporting flood relief efforts across the state may also donate to Central Carolina Community Foundation, which serves the Midlands.
