The Charleston Trident Association of Realtors began this competitive grantmaking program at Coastal Community Foundation in 2003 to support organizations that focus on affordable housing, including through education, development or repair. Since its inception, the program has invested more than $1 million across Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester counties.

Average award: up to $5,000, with an average award of about $3,500
Deadline: 11:59 p.m. Feb. 15 and 5 p.m. June 1, or the next business days if those dates fall on a weekend.

Criteria for eligibility

  • Nonprofits serving Berkeley, Charleston, and/or Dorchester counties that focus on affordable housing through education, development or repair are eligible to apply.

Application process and schedule

  • Applications are accepted twice a year. The winter cycle for this program begins in November, with an application deadline of 11:59 p.m. Jan. 15 or the next business day if the date falls on a weekend. The summer cycle begins in April, with an application deadline of 11:59 p.m. June 1 or the next business day if the date falls on a weekend. A committee comprised of local realtors will consider applications, with final decisions typically announced within two months of each deadline.
