SVP Charleston is a fund and program of Coastal Community Foundation as well as a member of the Social Venture Partners global network. The program provides multiyear, capacity-building grants with a component of programmatic support to nonprofit organizations serving Berkeley, Charleston and/or Dorchester counties.

Average award: Past SVP Charleston Investees have been awarded from $10,000 to $50,000 per year during their engagement periods. Typical investments are for two to three years.

Criteria for eligibility

  • Nonprofit organizations serving Berkeley, Charleston and/or Dorchester counties are eligible. Applicants must demonstrate strong leadership and effective, sustainable programs with clear measurable outcomes and impact. For the 2020 investment cycle, the partnership is focused exclusively on nonprofit organizations in the Tri-County area that are working to reduce the opportunity gap, improve educational outcomes and serve at-risk youth. The population these groups serve are youth and their families/ caregivers that live in under-resourced, under-served neighborhoods, attend low performing schools and lack essential, vital resources and services. Application process and schedule

  • Interested applicants will apply through CCF’s online portal. The application process consists of two phase, the first of which is an application. Organizations who advance to Phase 2 will be notified to submit a phase 2 application which will be due later that month. In addition to the phase 2 application, the process also includes an interview and site visit.
