The Stanley B. Farbstein Grant Program is an invitation-only competitive program aimed at addressing the preservation of Jewish life and education in Beaufort, Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester counties. It was established in 2014 by the Trustees of Mr. Farbstein’s estate to honor his legacy as a lifelong supporter of Jewish programs and higher education, particularly in chemical engineering studies.  Each year, groups invited to apply to the grant program are eligible to request up to $20,000 in funding. Since 2015, the grant program has invested more than $500,000.

Criteria for eligibility

  • Organizations in Charleston and Beaufort Counties that seek to preserve Jewish identity and culture, as well as, those that support STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) programming for children or young adults.

Application process and schedule

  • Interested applicants can contact Samuel Bellamy to be considered for an invitation to apply. Grant applications are reviewed and funding recommendations developed by an advisory committee. Select groups may receive a site visit or follow-up questions, with final decisions announced in early April.
