Established by the City of Charleston in memory of T. C. Drayton, this fund accepts applications from residents who live on the East Side community in the city of Charleston and who are seniors in high school, about to begin studies at a two- or four-year college; preference will be given to students who participate in the community through school activities or volunteer work, demonstrate financial need, and rank in the top 50% of his/her class.

  • Students must be high school seniors living in the East Side community in Charleston.

Application process and schedule

  • Applications can be completed online beginning mid-January. Each applicant will only complete one application and the online system will automatically pair you with scholarships for which you are eligible. The deadline for all applications to be submitted, including letters of recommendation, is mid-March. All applicants will be contacted regarding their application status by early July.  Specific deadlines can be found on our scholarship portal each year, which can be accessed through the “Apply” button on our Scholarships for Current High School Seniors page.
