Mr. Finn retired in 2008 as Chairman and CEO of AstenJohnson, and he remains Chairman of the Board. The Finns created this scholarship in thanks to AstenJohnson employees who have enriched the Finns’ lives in multiple ways. The William and Prudence Finn Scholarship Endowment and The Harold Newlin Hill Scholarship provide scholarship support for graduating high school seniors who are children or step-children of AstenJohnson employees (employed with AstenJohnson at least three years), to help pay fees for 2-year or 4-year colleges located in the U.S.A.  Scholarships are awarded to college-bound students and are based on financial need, involvement in extra-curricular and community activities, character and personality, academics, personal aspirations, and ability to overcome obstacles.

Average award: $2,500

Criteria for eligibility

  • Applicants must be children of AstenJohnson employees who have worked at the company for at least three years.

Application process and schedule

  • Applications can be completed online beginning mid-January. Each applicant will only complete one application and the online system will automatically pair you with scholarships for which you are eligible. The deadline for all applications to be submitted, including letters of recommendation, is mid-March. All applicants will be contacted regarding their application status by early July.  Specific deadlines can be found on our scholarship portal each year, which can be accessed through the “Apply” button on our Scholarships for Current High School Seniors page.
