Investment Options
Excellent fiduciary and investment management is a cornerstone of CCF’s work as your philanthropic partner. Depending on your charitable fund choice, we offer a menu of investment options to match your philanthropic goals, personal values and interests.
Short-Term Portfolio
Our non-endowed funds are designed for present-day grantmaking which may be spent quickly. For these funds, assets are invested in short-term cash instruments to ensure immediate liquidity. This tool is used exclusively with non-endowed funds.
Traditional Portfolio
Our traditional portfolio is designed to balance grantmaking capability with long-term, sustainable growth in perpetuity. Under the guidance of our investment committee and investment professionals, this portfolio has a five-year performance target of 7.5%.
Place-Based Impact Investing (PBII)
Impact investing is a rapidly growing trend around the globe, and for good reason. These types of investments are made to generate a measurable societal benefit while also delivering financial returns – so it’s not only good for business, it’s good for humanity.
When we employed this concept and set up our Place-Based Impact Investing (PBII) portfolio in 2016, we added yet another level of benefit: the ability to support local businesses or programs and spark social change in our own backyards. More specifically, our purpose is to provide capital to enterprises that address our region’s needs identified in our Civic Engagement Agenda: affordable places & inclusive spaces, access to economic opportunity and education.
It’s just one more way that we live our purpose of creating vibrant communities by uniting people and investing resources.
How can I participate as a donor?
- If you have a fully-endowed donor advised fund with CCF that has a balance of $500,000 or greater, you have the option of investing your fund in the PBII pool.
- Make a tax-deductible contribution to our PBII Fund. Your gift will be pooled with CCF’s own assets and others who have donated to this fund.
Please visit our Place-Based Impact Investing page if you’re interested in applying for funding.
Socially Responsible Investing
CCF recognizes that philanthropically-minded donors often have an interest in socially responsible investment options. To meet this need, the Foundation offers an ESG investment option for donors with fully-endowed funds of $500,000 or greater. ESG stands for environmental, social and governance and our portfolio blends a mix of the three investment priorities. Portfolio investments are made with a dual purpose of being socially responsible while generating the market returns necessary to preserve and grow philanthropic capital.
